Why I Did A PAD

Post Wed Jan 02, 2008 12:50 am

I realized that the only time I was seriously taking photos was on vacations which I only took a couple of times a year. It caused me to realize that if I wanted to push myself anymore in my photography, I would have to start taking photos year-round. So, at the end of December 2006, I challenged myself to a Photo A Day. I didn't require that I take a Photo every day but that I at least posted something new and different every day (and it had to be shot within the week). I did very well at my PAD until August when work got really crazy and it caused me to loose the time I was devoting to my challenge.

As the year comes to a close I didn't manage a Photo A Day, but I did manage to push my photo skills to a new level. The best part of the Photo A Day is it also pushed me outside of my comfort zone on photography. I always shot landscape and animals. But when you live in a city, you don't have a lot of that around.

I thank all of you for your comments and commitment. I hope to continue my PAD into 2008 and hopefully be back to focussing on it some more again. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you, too. It does take some effort to do a PaD and there are some days when one becomes desparate around 5 p.m.
You seem to have accomplished a lot and tried to stick to your goal.
Best wishes for PaDing in 2008.
