Hi Folks,

On Monday night ma best friend "Grizzly" was taken up in Jesus' arms an relieved of all his pain.

He had suffered for a number a years from Black Lung Disease caused by soot an coal dust down the mines.

Ah've had nothin but kindness shown by Pbase friends an this is real appreciated. However, kindness an best wishes unfortunately won't change things on their own.

Ah'm not a vote grabber an there's nothin personal in this but ah would ask ya'll to vote for this gallery in memory of Grizzly.

The more folks recognise the extent of the sacrifice made by the miners to give all of us our home comforts, then the more pressure we can put on the Companies to see to proper Health an Safety.

Black Lung Disease is never talked bout openly but is one a the biggest killers roun here and the big Minin Corporations try to keep it all quiet.

Please vote to draw attention to this injustice.

Thanks for yore time an may God wish good health on y'all an yore families.

Ah will never give up the fight, now.

The music playin in the gallery is The Hobo's Lullaby an was Grizzly's favorite song.

I am right with you Magical Mike!!! I share my heartfelt words in tribute to your dear Grizzly who has my vote for sure! May he be free always in tir na nog, the land of eternal youth!

My feisty maternal grandmother, Florence Ethel Luster Williams, was the youngest daughter of a poor coal miner. He and his wife were both illiterate and both came from impoverished coal mining families. Her father was one of 13 children and her mother was one of 20 children. My grandma was the only child of her family to graduate from 8th grade. Her mother refused to allow her to attend high school as it was time to go to work. At times, my grandma was embarrassed that my other 3 grandparents not only finished high school, but all had attended or graduated college. She survived a horrific childhood and spent most of her adulthood distant from her family. Multiple relatives of mine died young due to Black Lung Disease and other tragic complications from working in these mines. Through my exploring my family tree, I have also seen how this environment brought much heartache and at times indirectly causing young deaths to women in my family. Two of my great~grandmothers died after complications from childbirth, one after having 13 children. Both were married to coal miners and literally lived in unimaginable squalor.

My grandmother's brutal stories flowed when she was forced to depend on us when her health rapidly deteriorated when I was a teenager. She warned me about her truths. I didn't want sugar-coated fairy tales. She only felt love from her father and I don't think that was plentiful. Her mother had no maternal instinct and my grandma never knew any of her grandparents. Extended family connections were almost non~existent. When she passed away at age 88, just 11 days shy of 89, my tears flowed for a little lost girl who thrived into a feisty old woman of heart. She has been gone now since August 16, 1986, and her stories WILL live on which I hope will help with ending the horrific injustices of the coal mines. Especially, today, as countless in our country are being further destroyed by a very dysfunctional government. Many greed driven and power hungry politicians of all political persuasions are selling out our own American citizens, even protecting illegal aliens who are criminally residing here. Corporate "pigs" across the globe only care about making money any way they can. We must wake up before it's too late!

you'll always dream~~~dare~~~dive dear Grizzly, John!!! :D 8)

here's one impoverished laborer of many in my blood... Flossie's coal miner dad...my mysterious great~grandfather, Steven Luster, ...11th child of Eleanor Blackford and Steven Luster
