Okay, I'll play.

This isn't exactly a gem but certainly a shot I didn't expect to turn out.

This was shot at an abandoned church yesterday on Indian Ridge. I'll have to go back to get a shot of the outhouse as the sun was directly behind it.

The door is boarded up but the all the windows are empty. Unfortunately, they were also 4 feet above my head. By placing a cinderblock on some beams laying outside, I was able to peer inside.

I shot it holding the camera over my head and into the window, guessing at the settings.

It came out underexposed (should've bumped the ISO to 100) but with a little help from levels, I brightened it up. The light in the back is shining through the boarded up door.

I'm amazed that I was able to hold the camera still enough at 1/30 and that I didn't have to level the shot (could use just a tad though). Maybe that's a clue that I shoud start shooting with my eyes closed. :)

was in a frenzy one day looking for a PoD. No time to get out and look around. I was walking through the office, and a lady who works for me has a bouquet of silk roses that are on her shelf, and stick up just above her cubicle. They're not *ugly* but they are very ordinary. The look VERY fake, and the "water droplets" are obviously hot glue.

In desparation, I raised my Nikon CP 3100 above my head and squared it up as best I could and grabbed it.

That evening I popped my flashcard in the USB and said "wow" I didn't plan that. I had just installed PhotoShop CS so I did a quick study in using the magnetic lasso and gaussian blur. I cloned and painted the areas I missed and you can still see some streaks.

Well it's not a masterpiece but I like it. Several people at the office have it as wallpaper now! LOL. Don't you love it when it happens? It makes those times when you plan and toil and take 100 shots and just know you will have a great photo, and still get all dogs-bearable!

Most of my gems are animal shots. This was my favorite one for sure:
