I generally take and post a picture a day, but if for whatever reason I can't I will dig into the archives and use a picture that is relevant to the day, i.e. I could have taken it if the time or inclination was there. When I'm on call and unable to get out and about I use other pictures, but they won't be holiday snaps etc. when there wouldn't have been a hope of me being able to take the shot.
There are other forums that suggest there's too much, and I quote, 'crap' in the PAD galleries. For the die hards it has to be a picture taken and posted a day. My view tends to be, why post a picture from the day, if it's only going to be sneered at. It's your paid for space, use it to show 'the good stuff'.For me reviewing and contemplating a picture you have taken, that may appeal to others is more important than than posting a shot for the sake of it.
At the end of the day, for me PADing has been a great education. I know a great deal more about photography, about editing, and about what can make an interesting picture. Previously I would have only taken 'tourist' shots, but I think/hope my horizons have expanded greatly through the PAD experience.
It can be hard work, but it's fun, and the one thing I love about it, it makes you look at everything you've taken for granted in a completely different way.
