PaD Challenge? (Marmite)

Post Fri Mar 31, 2006 4:12 pm

Ok, in the past there have been some interesting pictures concering a product called Marmite. Off and on some strange things are done with this seemingly innocent item. The last jar I bought (not easy here in California) there was a tag... "and you thought Marmite Yeast Extract was just for TOAST." Well... NO, I didn't. My first exposure to Marmite was on Corn on the Cob. Anyways... back on track. I thought about that tag... and then thought again. Is that a Challenge? As in a PaD challenge? Here's my first attempt at different ways to use Marmite - http://www.pbase.com/jengle/marmite . Let me think... Tomorrow might bring another idea.

And I thought you were going to use it to glue toothpicks into an Eiffel Tower or something.

Great idea for a PAD - I'll try and find a Marmite tree later!

There used to be alot of Marmite Orchards round here, but it's not really commercially viable anymore. Sad really that a traditional craft can die out. I think it's produced from large factory scale orchards in Turkey now.

Anyone know for sure?

I'm not 100% certain John, but there was a recent sighting of Marmite in Erzurum, a town in north east Turkey so its quite likely ther's an orchard in that vicinity.

Added to which, when I went to a turkish restaurant in Dortmund Germany in 1998, I ordered apple pie and found the black stuff inside it. I guess they had just got the orchards mixed up.

I'll continue sleuthing!
