Popular Photos Are Always "Stuck" -- why?

Seems like the Popular Photos get "stuck" and stay that way for weeks at a time. Gets discouraging to vote on people's photos only to know that the votes will likely not count by the time the Popular Photos are "unstuck." Anyone know why this happens?

It is kind of pointless now. Even when it was working, not many people voted. Then there are a few who have probably opened up guest accounts and voted for themselves. Found one set of pictures, about 4 of them, all from the same person, all with 3 votes.

I prefer to place more value on the comments I get from others.

I found that when I e-mailed slug, he did act upon that, well sort of.

He updated then, and then he let it slip again. He knew what to do it seems. That was in May or June.

It does seem that votes are being counted and retained.

I am still voting for good pictures!

Shame it's too late for my London Eye picture of 6 August I was so looking forward to being on the front page as well.

The popular’s have worked very seldom the last 4-5 months. The reason so many look at the post but not comment is some are tired of this feature not working. Many have complained in the forum, sent emails to the help department and emailed slug direct. I emailed slug two different times and never received any type of response.

I am guilty of not voting for images. I do try to leave a comment when I see something that makes me go “Wowâ€

To be honest I do not place much value on the popular images I dont even know if I have ever had any there.
As JC said if someone can take the time and trouble to write a comment about a photograph then that holds much more value

While I do enjoy comments others leave about my images and put much more weight to comments than votes I enjoy
looking through the popular photos and galleries.

Many great images are found here giving us instant access to ones we may not see without these features. In this popular
section also lives the image that myself and others say “What the heck is that? How did it make it into the popular section?â€
