Posting Time Effect?

Has anyone studied the effects on hit counts based on posting time? I find that when I post at my regular time (about 4-5 am EST in the US), those photos get anemic hit counts even for 24 hours.

Sometimes, however, if I'm busy, and don't post until the afternoon EST in the US, I get much higher counts.

I'm interested if pbasers around the world have any thought about the time you post.

Pretty much the same here. I usually try to post around 5-6 pm Central Time. When I'm too busy I post earlier. The regular visitors keep up on commenting but the casual visitors usually decline on early uploads.

Actually, I am making a proposal for my dissertation on the correlation of hit counts to time of posting on pbase and other photo sharing web sites.

I'm on the West Coast so this is based on Pacific
time.

If you want the European audience you post early.
East Coast of the U.S. in the afternoon...
Late in the afternoon for the West Coast.

Times vary depending on the day too.
Weekends you can post and get better results
virtually all day through.

Note: If you post naked photos it really doesn't matter
when you post. The horny viewers will seek you out,
gawk in numbers and leave canned comments anyway.

I find that posting after 11pm UK time is not very good at all - many of my fellow Brits have gone to bed or watching a film, US east coasters are having their evening meal and Californians are in attendance at their workplace!

I try to post between 5pm and 9pm if I can, but did so unusually early today as it was yesterday's PAD!

Its a little frustrating at weekends. I may have gone out to an event and got some really good pics, but I dont get a flood of people. Maybe they have a weekend away, have friends round or doing a job around the house. Traffic patterns at weekends are certainly more haphazard.

Haven't tried a nude shot yet Dan, but I try to seek and some fun now and then

I am in California and I have the same problem. If I post after 10 pm PST, major hits. Posts in the morning, very few. My evenings posts show as the next day.

I have observed it is not about the time that you post as it is about who else posts the same time as you.

What I have seen is if you post at a "popular" time when more people are viewing and posting then yes you may get more views but you will spend less time on the front page of the PAD META Gallery.

So it is a balance of posting at a time when there are many visitors to Pbase and at a time when there are not alot of others uploading to the meta-gallery.

So the bigger factor is spending longer time on the front page of the PAD meta-gallery and that usually translates to more visits.

But really the biggest factor is your work. The better your work then the visits will just come, don't be hung up on visitors or comments, be hung up on your work.

That's good advice. As a relative novice in these things I have been hung up on the wrong thing. I'll think about your tip.

Surely all three things play a role, the time you post relative to the busiest browse times for the site, countered by the number of other PAD uploads during the same time period and most importantly the level of impact of the shot.

I'm wondering how many pages of the PAD gallery people look back to - do you go through all of them, or only 2 or three. I know that time is a real factor here. If I have spare time on my hands I guess I run through anything up to 20 pages, but on other days I might only get a chance to look at a couple.
