Painted Sky

Had I been that artist...
whose brush painted the sky that day...
Throwing colors around like splashes of water.
A splash of pink...
then gold and maybe amethyst.
Had I been the artist who created that mystical
smeared rainbow someone would've smiled at
As they gazed upon it.
When oceans of endless color graced the sky...
On a beautiful neutral canvas.
Had I been that person...
I would've rested with a sigh of peace.
Knowing that my masterpiece will eventually
fade......But to the people whose eyes it
graced....
It will live on forever!
Had I been that person.
