Good Morning Everyone,
Apologies but I have some more clarification to do (again!)...
...not content with making you think I was in dire straights hanging off a cliff-edge to take last Wednesday's photo, I now find that I sent all you bookworms off in the wrong direction yesterday with my 'where is Chapter 24?' quest? Walter spotted this lackadasical attention to detail straight away - the book in question is indeed Greenmantle by John Buchan, but the chapter title I showed a bit of is Chapter 14 not Chapter 24...
...huh? I hear you cry! Well, the shot is of my old hardback edition of "The Four Adventures Of Richard Hannay" which consists (naturally enough) of The 39 Steps, Greenmantle, Mr. Standfast and The Three Hostages. But on closer inspections, I see now that the four separate stories are almost run together into one story and have in fact sequential chapters, so The 39 Steps is chapters 1-10, Greenmantle is 11-32 and so on. Hence Chapter 24 here is the ten chapters of The 39 Steps plus the first 14 of Greenmantle = The Lady of Mantilla!!
But you people are FAAAAAAR too clever!! Mieke came up with the correct answer three nanoseconds after I'd posted the photo! Talk about spluttering into your Corn Flakes!!! So can I ask something that's been bothering me all night? How did you folks out there *KNOW* what the book was? I mean, you only had a few words to go on...I didn't think anyone would come close, let alone bag it at the off...
Anyhoo, here's today's photo: Flaming -
