I like the Strudl idea, but French restaurants tend to be closed or overpriced or both - will you make sure they'll be able to feed us?
Will do my best to throw on my very nicest dirndl and dance the schuhplattler for you. I'll need some keen brass players for some nice oompah.

I was wondering if anyone is driving down from the North and would be interested in sharing a ride, to save emissions and money?
I was planning to set off from Sunderland about 14.00 ish on Friday and would return on Sunday after lunch.

Why not doing a trip to Stonehenge????

Hi Barbara - great news that you and Lisa are coming now!

Stonehenge in my opinion is very disappointing and some distance from Bath. My suggestion would be to visit Lacock (the birthplace of photography) and Avebury - a far bigger stone circle than Stonehenge and in the 'Corn Circle' area. Nearby Marlborough is a lovely English market town too! That would nearly fill a day but admittedly most people want to be able to say they have visited Stonehenge!

I agree with John. Stonehenge very touristy and very expensive - Avebury is much better but you'll be shot without your own transport. Why not visit the lovely city of Bristol only 10 minutes by train? It has nice museums, cafes, lovely city.

There are some market towns as John said like Marlborough, Devizes etc but they are sleepy and there is not much to see or do.

For anyone arriving before Saturday, you may like to visit the American Museum or Prior Park. Both are highly rated, both are on the edge of town and it is unlikely we could do them justice within the Pbase meet.
