Hello Friends,

This is Marielou who does not participate to this challenge.

First, it's because I only discover it right now :D

And second for me I do not understand the meanings "Cliché" has for you.
It is a French word and it is a synonymous of photo. Each photo is a cliché.
Of course some thinks there is a pejorative sense to this word and is a picture of "n'importe quoi et sans intérêt".
I Can't believe you have choosen such an idea.....

Please, may anybody can explain to me what is a cliché in English ?

kindly,
Marielou

a cliche' is a saying that is used repeatedly in different situations.. like the saying it's "cold as ice" would be used to describe someone's feeling about something they don't like, or about something such as a steel table in a cold room.. those things are not like ice, but they are "cold" in some way, emotionally or actually. "all bent out of shape" is used to refer to someone who is upset over something that makes them mad or frustrated. "an ace up his sleeve" means someone that has some tricks or a plan for something you haven't found out yet.

Does that help?

Thank you Laryl for explanations.
If I understand, that's :Commonplace, so ordinary [derogatory]. synonymous with banality, Isn't that ?
For example : It rains today everything will be wet......
Maybe will sleep tonight a bit less twerp. :P

I do not understand how the historical meaning of this word, because a cliché, in French, is not the photo itself but the negatif of it, when we did use films in the good old days (Now we could speak about RAW or NEF formats);
From that, which is academic, we make a stupid idea.....this certainly is a living language......

I find it interesting that Marielou comes with the question what actually a Cliché is!

I don´t understand the list of sayings to be associated with Clichés. That´s why I posted images what my understanding about Clichées is.

Please read this link at Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clich%C3%A9

So my #14

a happy day for me.. I adopted a new cat from the humane society. She apparently was abandoned
by owners that moved, she had 2 kittens. She went to foster care until her kittens were old enough
to be adopted now. She is a year old and is going to fit right in with the 1 and almost 2 yr old cats I have.
