If you "open up" (pun intended) and use gate and/or gateway not only as a noun but their verb tense the creativity and photographic potential can broaden greatly. Think about depicting transition points, a stride, etc. How about being a little liberal in your twist or take on the word (that is always common in these monthly challenges). This should not be limiting or exclusive in any way.

I personally plan on studying literal gates hopefully in creative ways. I hope others will be able to join in by not allowing themselves to be boxed in by some literal translation of the theme. Add to the variety and flavor!

Glad to be in 2011!

+1 ...I'll be being very creative in my interpretation of gate/gateway/door/doorway.... :D

My second Gate. How's this for an creative use for the word???
While I was at our town's New Years celebration, there were lots of people dancing in the streets. I saw these girls dancing and remembered an old dance move called a Gate. http://www.pbase.com/image/131545242

My city is full of gates too! But it's cold and damp today so I'm starting off simple with this gate to a neighbor's side yard. I like how the little vine tries to cover it every year.

I had a day out today photographing at 2 cemeteries in Auckland City with 2 friends. What an interesting time we had.
And I had my eye looking all the time for gates - and I was surprised at how many I found too.
