A (wo)man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his/her life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful. (free to J.W. von Goethe)

Day 1, a gift for my sister's garden. Thankfully, she does not have a computer so she won't see this until she unwraps the gift. http://www.pbase.com/image/130805986

I am learning to play guitar, so I see this finger-wrecking machine every day :)

Thank you for the comments on yesterday's Advent Calendar entry. I decided to replace the animated gif (Barn Door to Decoration) with the original image of just the decoration. Many people said that they could not see the door long enough. The door was an image from 2 years ago taken at the family farm and used to create a card for my company. I simply wanted to have the illusion of an Advent Calendar door with the image behind it. Unfortunately the thumbnail shows the 1st image in the animation sequence (the door) which was not the intended PaD entry for the challenge.

I reworked the GIF into a sequence of 5 images (instead of the original 2 with the door opening to reveal the Advent Calendar piece and posted it elsewhere with a link to the top of the PaD challenge page. (1) I think this looks more like I had originally hoped it would yesterday. (2) Now it allows me an animation at the top of the PaD page to signify the Advent Calendar challenge. If you wish to see the new improved version you will find it here:

If you are curious, I used Photoshop to create and save the 5 individual GIFs and then opened them in Adobe ImageReady to create and save the animated GIF. I will be glad to share the 13 steps if anyone is interested.

Thanks Boris for this challenge.

Scott
