Thank you or reciprocal comment ???

I guess most people are enjoy seeing comments on their images. Otherwise how do you know if people liked your work. Yes, it's most important that you liked and enjoyed your work yourself, but appreciation of other artists is not less important. So if someone spend time and after visiting my image left comment, I prefer to spend same time to browsing this artist work and leaving comment, showing that his work creates response in others, rather spending same time typing "thank you" note. Not many of us has unlimited time to spend on Pbase. So with my limited time I'd better make other person feel better by noting his work and leaving comment. I do send a "thank you" note if someone spent time and browsed the entire gallery, and particularly left critique comment. It's just an appreciation of time spent by the person. And of course there are comments left, in anticipation of reciprocal comment. But no body forces me to leave comment under person's image. If I like it I do, if not, then I won't.

Got to agree with the below. I always try to look though galleries and make a comment. Sometimes I will respond if a very detailed comment is given. I find after posting to PAW-Thurs. challenge there were lots of comments! Viewing their galleries & leaving a comment is my way of recognizing their comment. A big thank to to all who have left comments...

Reciprocal comments are certainly nice, but when somebody leaves me a particularly helpful comment, then I do send a note of thank you, especially if it improves the image. I also leave a reciprocal comment in most cases. For me the comments that are helpful and critical are the best, especially if they help me improve my work. Comments such as "nice shot" and "cool capture" are ok, but when someone leaves a comment that explains what they liked specifically about one of my images, then that certainly makes me feel good, and I do try to return the favor, but I will only comment on images I really like. I've received well over 10,000 comments on PBase, and this has not only helped my work and my self-confidence, but it has gained me friends from many countries and has introduced me to many different types of photography and broadened my horizons. It is these friendships that keep on PBase.
