Hi all, here are some suggestions too:
OLD PORT:
The Old Port is a district of Portland, Maine, known for its cobblestone streets, 19th century brick buildings and fishing piers.
PEAKS ISLAND:
Peaks Island today is a neighborhood within the city of Portland. Home to artists, retirees, commuters of all sorts and a substantial summer population, Peaks Island boasts a small town feel with unparalleled ocean views and access. Fourteen daily ferry departures (20 minutes one way) from Portland make Peaks an ideal, family friendly destination. Nice ferry ride and cute accessible little island.
GILSLAND FARM:
Sited along the Presumpscot River estuary just five minutes from Portland, Maine Audubon’s headquarters features a 65-acre sanctuary with more than two miles of trails winding along a pond and through woods, meadow, orchard and salt marsh.
SCARBOROUGH MARSH:
Maine's largest salt marsh -- recently designated a Maine IBA (important bird are) and a candidate as a Global IBA. The Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center, open to the public, offers a a variety of guided and self-guided walks and canoe tours in addition to exhibits, a nature store, and canoe rentals. (OOOHHH...Pbaser's messin' around in boats!)
I am open to the whatever adventure the group would like to take on!
Best, Laura
