I want to play but I've just discovered the forum 1/2 a week into it. I will keep up with what you guys are doing and post some b&ws in the spirit of things.
Fun stuff!!!

Is it just me or is the quality of the B&W shots getting really really good already? I mean, only a week gone in the month and everyone seems to be posting stuff that only gets better. I am very impressed with all the work my fellow Feb B&W PADers are doing.

I've noticed it too. It's made me throw out some shots I probably would have posted otherwise.

Well, guess I'm too late for this one though I'm not sure I'd want to go a whole month without colour anyway. :-) It'll be interesting to see the work done and I will try to do a few more in monochrome than I might otherwise.

Some other padder once wrote that they loved other people's B&W work but not their own and that's the same for me. Seeing something in colour first makes it almost impossible to see something as being better once it's had the colour removed. That's not always the case but it often is, so this is quite challenging!

That's a very good point. I have begun to think if I don't think the shot is better when I convert it to black and white then there is no sense doing anything else to it. Just move to the next frame. I think black and white photos usually look best when they would look almost monohrome in the color version and textures are involved. But, there's always those photos that prove otherwise.

and say thanks to Gary for suggesting a B&W February. I love black and white and since I've been so concentrated on getting the conversions done that have been on the back burner, I've got prints on the way to their new owners.
Thanks again....

I have really enjoyed Black and White February. There has been some amazing photography here. Kudos to Gary for getting it started.

As we close in on the end of the month, I would like all of you think about something. Consider posting your favorite B&W image of the month here. I will then create and publish a topic on them.

I would also like the share with you a little gem of a plug in that I use with many of my Black and White images called B&W-Plus. Here is there website: http://www.cybia.co.uk/bwplus.htm

I've been delighted so many would play!

When I thought up the idea for a Black and White February, I doubted that many other people would want to participate. After all, a month (even February) is a long time, and black and white isn't everyone's cup of tea.

But I've been so pleasantly surprised and impressed with the body of work people are posting for this "challenge." I've been having a lot of fun seeing the world in black and white and learning a ton.

Thanks go to everyone for taking up the challenge and for the excellent images you've all been posting. Now what shall we do in March??? LOL

It's been an interesting journey and a good one to follow.

With only one week left to go it would be good to try something a little bit different, I'll be visiting you all again today for some b&w inspiration. Perhaps in the style of . . .

Thanks for passing by my mini world . . . D

I really needed a push - and Gary is quite 'pushy'! - to do more B&W work. And I 've really enjoyed it, and see more and new images now when out with a camera.

So thanks, Gary - and I'm really impressed with all the work of those involved.

Looking forward to 'colour' Wednesday also though!

I have always enjoyed black and white but shooting only it this month has really helped me be more concious of composition, light, and shapes.

Thanks to everybody for all comments and messages, I feel like I have learned a lot this month and a lot of that has been from seeing other's work.

It's been fun but I'm thinking Wed will be really really colorful.

I had never done much shooting in B+W mode & having only begun using a dslr about 3 weeks I wasn't sure I could meet the challenge. I had such a good time in the company of many talented people who inspired me every day. A big thanks & applause to Gary for coming up with the concept.

My eyes have been opened to things I've not seen before during my time doing PAD & the B/W Challenge has opened them even more....

Laine.

I too have really enjoyed this month focused on b/w! Thank you Gary! I am looking at everthing differently. A huge thank you to all the wonderful artists who participated. I've found new people to watch and be inspired by.

Peace to you all!
Fran
