Most of my favorite photographers are relatively obscure. Most of my favorites are perfectionist landscape photographers (but not Ansel!) that have a command of light that makes my jaw drop.

One, David Fokos, is a Massachusetts-based photographer who takes very long exposure large format prints usually of water. His gelatin prints have to be seen to be believed... here's an example:

Another, Tokihiro Sato, also takes long exposures. His collection is called "Breathing Light". How cool is this??:

Another of my favorites is Richard Misrach, whom I was very fortunate to meet because I went to school with his son.

Those are indeed very awsome photographs. Out of the 2, the top one took my breath.

I am also drawn to Ansel Adams, work. I also find alot of photographers here on pbase, that leaves me breathless.

I have relatively little knowledge of 'famous' photographers, and the work that inspires me can often be found on this site.

But also from the select band of candid photographers on "In-Public.com" http://www.in-public.com/site/index.php

Check out Nick Turpin and Richard Bram for example.

Inspiration

My dogs are my biggest inspiration because they are my joy. They make me feel every emotion under the sun (Love to Rage at times) I see things in them that I don't see in people, objects or other things. See http://www.pbase.com/jacquied[/img]

I've just visited the in-public.com website. If you want inspiration for street photography, this is a good place to visit - thanks Ray
