In general, I'm just about as offensive as the next guy, but for some reason, people always jump on me about it.

I think it's because I ... am .... sooooooooo .... good looking.

jude, you can relate, right?

The "next guy" is on Pbase with with his name, last name and location I'm afraid.
If some "nickname" ever comes to Rome, 00198 via Dalmazia 16a I am sure he will be glad to meet him in person.

Ops, just read a comment of "the nickname" on the photo of "another Pbaser".
"the next guy" has told me he is satisfied for the apologies of "the nickname".
LOL
Peace, Jeremy?

Let's get our collective heads out of the toilet and start shooting a few more!
Two days to go and I've yet to be impressed or offended.

I believe jude is right.
I'd say that fame and fortune are sons and daughters of fun, sometimes married with naughty stuff.

I prioritize fame and fortune because fun and laughter and enjoyment will come much more easily with F and F than without. Now what are we talking about.....oh yeah french privacy....

I think that living on a photographic site hidden under a nickname is perfectly justified.
Especially for ladies, or better, girls.
But to a man, the anonimity can give a false sense of freedom, spurring him to talk in excessive liberty,
with no care of the possible consequences of his not always carefully chosen words.
This is my opinion, at least.

My wife has requested that if I am to post photos of our children on the Internet, that I provide no clues as to my name or address.

I respect her wishes, since the alternative would be to not post pictures of our children, and then it just wouldn't be fun.

I am sorry Adal, if this bothers you. If you want to come and challenge me to a duel, name the place and I'll meet you there.

CRIMINY! I'm not running around with a nickname so I can make rude comments anonymously. What a laugh! If I were to intentionally make rude comments, then I'd use my own name! For god's sake Adal ... I thought you wanted peace!

I believe that perhaps I will change my name from Jeremy Rebel to Ferdinand Ballagario -- that way you won't know it's a nickname and won't subject me to such ludicrous accusations.

Sorry Jeremy if my words have offended you.
It wasn't my intention.
You can have all the reasons to use a nick.
What I want to say is that to go under a nick has a side-effect.
I was making a scientific reflection about the communicational issues on the Internet.
I have noticed that I, for example, when on a chat-line under my nick, tend to speak differently, with much more liberty.

I thought you wanted peace!

Next time, please reply.

There, I'll follow Chris' technique and go with first name only -- I don't think you can accuse me of using a nickname now.

You know, my wife says I offend people without knowing or trying. She's right, I always have. She says that once people get to know me they like me but as far as first impressions I often blow it. It really stems back to my socially dysfunctional upbringing. I learned incredible ethics, morals, responsibilities and integrity from my parents, but social skills and ettiquette were lacking.

So, I'm taking a break from PaD commenting for a while. I will still be viewing your photos but in silence. I will also still be posting, but will not be offended or surprised if you stop commenting on my photos in return.

I'll be back to commenting once I figure out how to be more politically correct. This also conveniently coincides with some pressing demands at work.
