Completed One Year PAD's

Post Tue Nov 09, 2004 4:16 pm

I've only been here since this past summer but are there any full one year PAD's? Those that have actually completed a year and if so is there anyway to identify them as such? The whole experience has been very enlightening for me.

I completed mine in August, but I didn't really mark it too much.

If you go to Michael Bo Hansen's gallery, you'll see a list of the early PAD people. Many of these completed their year, and some are continuing.

I remember that many people started this project on 1 January 2004, and so many more will be completing their year soon.

I drug this out of the basement. Maybe folks that have completed a year can leave a message here with a link to their PAD? I think they need some kind of recognition!

I finished my year January 1st. I don't miss the hectic "what-am-I-going-to-shoot-today" stuff, but like others have said, I do kind of miss the discipline of it.

I finished my year on Feb 19th and have just continued as normal. I guess i figure if I DON'T or CAN'T or (god forbid the day would come) I DON'T WANT TO take a photo, I can skip. But I have no intention of that for now.

The year taught me so much.. It was never a chore and in learning what I've learned (and I have so much more to learn) opportunities have come to me. It's one of the best things I've ever done because it made me see fairly early on that I finally know what I want to do when I grow up.

Even at this advanced age

I finished my year on Dec. 31, 2004. I've continued taking photos but not one a day. In a way I miss the daily pressure but not QUITE enough to go back to it!

Well, I don't think I've finished, but rather slowed down.

I had done about 17 months PADing before I 'conked out'. Since then, I've posted a new photo whenever possible, but if not uploaded an old one.
For this I created my Intermission gallery, as I'm still hoping that I can re-start PAD properly. But I haven't fully recovered yet to meet that commitment.

So for now, I'm just being a wimp.....

Over a year, but fewer than 366 Photos.

I've been at it for 14 months and I have about 9 months of photos to show for it.
Lots of commitments and a few just plain slumps.

I have to admit it was nice taking a few months off from shooting after my first year was done. Since starting again this past February I have found it to be a lot easier this second time around. One thing I learned how to do is to just relax and take things as they come.

During my first year, I began with a lot of thought about just where, when and what I was going to shoot. I literally used to go to sleep at night worrying about what the next day would bring and were I should go to find a photo.

By the end of the year, I was more relaxed but also a bit burned out. I still had a touch of anxiety worrying if I could do a year or not.

The break really helped. It gave me a chance to cool my jets and now I am back at it again. I am so relaxed because I don’t feel the consuming pressure that I HAVE to shoot everyday. I now just SHOOT everyday. I shoot whatever comes as the day unfolds and on occasion will go hunting for that photo. I have always enjoyed rambling around to see what I can see and combing both interests is enjoyable.

While it’s a great training exercise and I have to say it does help improve one’s quality of work, the most important thing is that it must be fun.
