date unlimited spring challenge

Post Fri Apr 03, 2009 11:57 am

Has/can anyone get one of the blighters with all four feet off the ground? They do it all the time from a few days old to about 3 weeks old, but I still haven't captured it. May need camera with more effective continuous mode and ideally with better light than UK midlands typical. Here's one 1/2sec too late too start you off

I live in a city, most animals around here have only two feet, and they always have at least one foot dragging on the ground, so can't help you much. :)

Here is an example fulfilling the word, but a bit lacking in artistic and technical merit

At 1/500sec it is not really fast enough, my autofocus isn't either, nor is my continuous shooting.I have done what I can with Focus magic, mostly focus improvement, a bit of movement reduction as well as a final unsharp back in NX2

I believe all four feet are off the ground on this one.

Thats more like it; one of our neighbours uses a frisby for her hound, but I haven't even managed to get it in the frame, never mind focussed etc

I thought you meant all critters. We don't have the kind that you show in your photo here.

I think crisscross meant all 4 feet AND THE BODY. I must say I really though amoxtli was quite creative in his interpretation of the challenge...the zebra did have all 4 feet off the ground....

Body and all four legs? I'll see what I can do. I've been trying to get our cat in mid-leap for some time.

Yes, I think I have to allow most creatures except horses that are trained, but the idea is to capture a short quick leap. I am particularly interested in the lamb jump, but obviously no good anywhere in the southern hemisphere just now and seems large gaps in the northern

And dogs. I think you want animals without human interaction & not being ask to jump, such as a dog catching a frisbee. I do recall seeing sheep jumping...in my dreams....

OK here is one fully airborne. Two or three of them were at it one evening as we were walking home, with camera packed away as the light had gone, but thought it worth a go. Is it an indicator of one's obsession with photography when you start shooting black sheep at dusk??

But please do continue to add more
