February Challenge?

February is just around the corner....who's up for doing a Candid a day? Just a thought!

hey sweeet cindi o'heart!!! the way i see "candid" creations is that they are spontaneous & unplanned... if this IS, then this WILLL BEEE ONE i totallly WILLL JOIN i also AM plannning a february challlenge with movies & music inspired by curlykath who has a february birthday... she has beeen creating & sharing most tuneFULLL heartsongzzz for janaury anywho, please share, if YOU wish, how YOU envision this "candid" topic

Well, you can always get folks indoors.....it is a challenge ya know! But, if anyone else has a better idea I'm all for it!

Don't know if I can make it every day, but I 'll give it a try. I think it is a nice idea.
And everybody can give it his/hers own twist.

I have tones candids taken every day in Summer, which I did not published yet, but going in february on street in biting cold won't get any good candids. Let's do it in April, works good for both hemispheres

Thanks for the idea Cindi but johnireland made a very good point, Candids are spontaneous creations and would be very difficult to post on a daily basis, especially for those who live in cold climates and who don't have access to the photo ops. for them. Later in the year might be better, but it still might be difficult to do. It sure would be a challenge for me because I rarely take pictures of people. LOL.

While I'd love to break outta my shell and do candids, Feb may not be wells suited for my local.

Another idea: "Odd Crops"

I've seen some interesting photos where the crop deviated from the normal 1:1.5 (about 800x600) ratio.
Probably difficult to do for a whole month, but thought i'd throw it out there.

800x600 is odd to me! sure not the ratio my cameras have ever recorded hehe.
Candids for me would be easy, since I babysit and have another 'model' here everyday see today's http://www.pbase.com/image/108672630
But I can sure understand the weather thing for others. Wish I had a great idea.. will be listening and watching and thinking until one really takes hold. I'm not up for unusual crops for the whole month I don't think.

February quite often is our hottest month with very glarey sunlight, not good for candids - too extreme, I'm for holding off until April too. Not sure what Laine will say, her climate is quite different to ours as she's finding out right now while she's down south! We had temperature reaching more than 43C (110+F) again today, that's 3 in a row and another week to follow if the meteorology people have it right, phew! Too hot to run the computer, too hot for the camera and I'm running so far behind with comments!

Since February seems to be a hard month for some because of weather .. how about a month of Things That Begin With "F" .. ? This could allow everyone to pick a sub if they want or be very open. from faces/fingers/feet to fancy, food, furry, friendly, fast, fads, fashion..... there are so many things that begin with F.... but keep it "Family Friendly" Just an idea .. what do you think?

Cindi's idea would be a true challenge, as I HATE taking candids
(a) because they force me out of my comfort zone
(b) because I feel a bit uncertain about taking advantage of people in their unguarded moments and am not always sure how to present candids I have taken
(c) because, despite my initial enthusiasm for recording people in photographs, I find this kind of photography truly challenging and difficult.
So, I'll chicken out on the major theme (for now, sorry Cindi!) but will keep it in mind as I try to decide how to present some recent candids...

Candids aren't really my scene either, especially with the miserable winter weather so
I'll pass on that for this month anyway.
An idea I had is if we document 'our place', which could include our home, townland or
neighbourhood, village, town, city. It could be done in whatever style people preferred,
reportage, scenic, street photography, abstract, B&W, etc
