You can get some really great 'traditional ethnic' shots in Old Town. There are loads of old buildings and great folks down there. You can also go to the top of Paseo Del Norte and get some good city shots or on the tram-but Paseo is good if you don't want to go all the way up the tram to Sandia Peak. If you will be around in October-they have the annual balloon fiesta which is definately a good camera opportunity-supposed to be one of the most photographed events in the world ;o) I reccommend taking the shuttle though - not trying to fight all those folks down at the field in your car. We lived in Albuquerque for 12 years and my folks still live there-I LOVE IT!!! I will think about it and pm you some other places.

We went through Albuquerque on our way to Santa Fe 3 years ago and took the tram to the top of Sandia Peak. Great view from up there. Wonderful for photos.

I looked at the forecast and it will be *way* too hot for my comfort so will leave the camera at home.

Maybe next time.

I'm glad I read this . . .I thought the balloon thing was in Feb or early spring! I was actually planning a trip specifically FOR the balloons in the near future & would have missed the whole thing  :x

These are all from New Mexico:

You should venture up to Santa Fe and Taos if you have the time.
Lots to see up there and Taos Pueblo if you get the chance.

I'm from Santa Fe, only 60 miles North of ABQ, and I highly recommend a trip there if you go to ABQ. Also the town of Madrid off the highway 14 on the way up there. And the town of Chimayo and either route to Taos- the "high road" and the "low road," both beautiful. Especially in December, the farolitos are everywhere.
