Your PAD photo that did surprisingly well

Post Sun Jun 25, 2006 7:50 pm

As a flip side to gsansoucie's post about Favorite PAD that didn't get hits, show us the ones that surprised you with the Hits/# of comments that it did get.

I actually like this photo but it's so far off what is considered "good" for a bird in flight that I didn't think anyone but me would appreciate it.

My best responded to shots are,

and

I think I either just got lucky with the pictures I took, or just got lucky with when I posted them.

Either way it was great getting some positive feedback and a great boost to feeling like I'm learning something. It was also a bit of a downer not getting similar responses for pictures posted afterwards. Felt like I'd reached my peak and would not get there again!!!!

My photo with the most hits is pretty crap really. Currently on 11,334.

Image

I have 38 other photos with over 3,000 views, and 37 of those feature women  . The other one is of a middle aged guy with a camera; again a pretty unremarkable picture. So maybe this is the one with the most surprsing number of views.

But what I consider to my best and most worthy pictures quite often get only a few hundred views.

Funny old world, isn't it? :o

:( Wow, I'm really depressed after reading this topic. The best shot I took as far as hits goes is 120 + hits. If I get half a dozen comments i'm happy. According to you guys Iwonder if I should even continue posting.I can't believe that people are getting so many hits for the shots they claim. Do I really stink that bad?

No you don't. It just depends on how diligent you are with marking and setting up your galleries. My numbers are the same as yours, as I suspect the majority of pbasers are. A lot can depend on the keywords you use and whether the subjects you post are of interest to other people searching for those keywords. A lot of posting in forums and commenting on peoples pad shots also draws attention. All time and effort, if you have it. You get back what you put in.

I am trying to have a delay between taking a picture and processing it, then ideally again between processing and posting. I need to devote more time to reflection and assessment of my own pictures.

One day last week, I didn't have any shots taken or processed ready for my 'SQUID'. But the need to post a picture and to use the square format made me really look at some of the pictures I had ignored.

This one has proved particularly popular:

I was pleased with this when I posted it but not exceedingly so. I really thought it about average for what I was doing at the time and yet it has been my best received PAD to date that is not part of a Thursday Challenge or have a person it it.

Best seen in the Original. Click the photo go see it in that format.

P.S. - The book has since been destroyed by my dogs.
