Ban spammers and redirecters

If everyone would use the blacklist feature (found in the same spot that you add a favorite user) on people that use redirect services like non pbase counters (ilead) or anyone that uses some type of popup when you view their page. I think it would help keep down on unnecessary usage to Pbase servers and limit slow downs and down times.

Also if you change your settings from allowing anyone (guest) to post and bump it up a notch I think that would cut down on the guestbook spam and also help with slow downs and down times we have all observed here on Pbase.

I might be totally wrong but worth a shot.

I have exited out of some awesome pages on pbase because of remote counters or re-directs. I dont even give them the time of day.

If I hear the sound on the popup blocker that another pager tried to open..... EXIT...

Third party counters are a peeve of mine (I never actually see ad pop-ups but that is plain cheesy if people are linking to such although some of the counters do this automatically (free for a reason)). However, I don't think they actually impact PBase performance as the the request should be non-blocking and a 3rd party server handles the request (well there is an extra line or two that the PBase servers need to serve but that won't amount to anything). You may notice the user's PBase page loads slower because of the request to the third party server but that is made by the web browser so I don't think this should be effecting PBase servers.

Still I hate such stuff. The 3rd party services can potentially track users across sites which is simply nasty. As a result I drop most of these requests at my proxy since they are pointless to me.
