PAD-Metagallery FAIR PLAY RULES!

Post Mon Dec 05, 2005 10:52 am

Hello everyone,

I need your help. Lately I have noticed there have been several people constantly reuploading their image to hog the front page of the PAD Metagallery.

Please PADers come together and help me remind these folks that there are fair play rules for the Metagallery.

Lets be fair to all the other members and only upload once to the metagallery unless there is a image change or problem with the first upload.

If anyone knows this to be a Pbase server issue, not caused by an individual constantly re-uploading then please let me know so I can stop wrongly accusing people.

Why did I bring this up? No, I have not been hurt by anyone doing this and knocking off my image from the front page. Just doing this cause we pretty much have to self regulate the Metagallery so we keep it fair for everyone.

Thanks for reading.

hey Lundy,
it may be a pbase issue, as sometimes I've uploaded, only for the image to literally disappear after a few mins. When this has happened I've tried to upload the same image thru the edit image screen, which works initially, but if that image keeps disappearing, I upload as a new rather than replaced image. I wonder if this is a problem those you mentioned might have been having?

As I understand it, if you reup your image you will no longer keep the hits, comments, information or votes associated with that image. The only way around this is through the edit image page where you can just replace the image. If you go this route, it will not move you forward in the metagallery.

This is the way I understand it. There definitely could be a Pbase problem that maani pointed out. Pbase has been plagued with frequent problems for quite some time.

Best of luck to you!

There have been so many times when all some individuals have asked of others is to act responsibly when posting. Rarely works.

Hard to police a place...

...with no really solid rules.
Who wants to be the one to tell someone they're out of line in a completely subjective environment.

The best bet is still to ignore those who post in ways you dislike.
