Stock photography.

Post Sat May 14, 2005 2:55 am

I was looking were to post it, and this is the only place I can think of.

After almost 2 years of PAD I've accumulated a lot of photos and just recently found a use for them, well sort of.

Submit Photos to ShutterStock and make $$$!

This is a stock photography site, it works very simple, you submit photos, everytime someone downloads you get paid. Don't think it is a get rich scheme, this is not it at all!!! ... I find it very exiting to see my photos get purchased. :)

anyway, I know PAD generated a lot of photos, here is a way to put them to use.

Hope it didn't came across the wrong way.

Hope it can help some of you.

Hi djarvik, I had a quick look and 20 cents per download???!!!???!?!?!
I'd rather give them away for free, that's an insult.

you got to remember, you will have lots of downloads of the same photo. Some of my photos were downloaded more 20 times....these pennies add up, plus it is really fun to watch then add up. Like I said, this is not meant to make you rich.

Also, stock photography and art photography is two different things. Stock photography is used to advertise a product or a service.....last week I took a shot of green grass, usually it would end up in a recicling bin,but I've desided to upload it..... it was doanloaded 13 times since! lol

If I am to make any photograph available on the web (or elsewhere) I would like it to be something that is fairly good - something that would I be happy, and hopefully proud of.

Where's the fun in getting 20 cents for a shot you'd otherwise bin? And as Alon said, you wont get rich this way.

Of course there are some pretty good shots on ShutterStock (I only looked at their top hits) and for these images 20c is definitely an insult.

Since my intention IS to get rich, this isn't going to work for me....

I work as a reviewer for Big Stock Photography. They pay $0.50 per download. Check them out. As with all referral program in the stock photo companies, your referral back to me is appreciated :) My ID there is Yogi Lo. I only uploaded 3 pics there as I don't have the time while working as a reviewer.

I was just offered 70% of whatever price I decide to place on my images at another stock site. I think I may hold out until I can afford the time and money to start my own site.
