I've read these posts for a few days now and I think isshinryu_mom said it best with:

"Ice cream comes in 31 flavors for a reason"

We all do PAD for our own reasons - just as we all get something different and rewarding from it. Pbase was introduced to me by a passerbye who had seen a few of my yahoo photo albums. I immediately fell in love with the PAD galleries - both for the photos and the IDEA of it.

I go through this life of photography, very very new and technically ignorant. My father was a photographer but i never was interested until a little over a year ago. And I'm old. I played with my digital camera for a year before i knew to put the resolution up to the largest setting, leaving me with some beautiful, yet horribly flawed scenics ... the likes of which i may never see again. I am not a technical reading kind of learner. I must do this hands on to know. (Or if someone explains it in very simple terms)

Since joining the PAD group I not only see things in a different light ... work diligently on getting that photo in ... and LEARN from every photo I see in here, but I am taken more seriously by family, friends and others who see this website. I take me more seriously.

I will continue to learn ... I will continue to be amazed with everyone on here ... I will continue to be horribly jealous at times (hehe) ... and increasingly proud of myself at others.

Oh and um.... what is this "hi key" that was mentioned on one of my pics? lol

My take on this

It's just a gallery for us to share our images with each other. I am not going to post any really poorly done images, what others do is their business. I will make an attempt to put a fresh image daily. I will not promise everyday. Often I am away from the computer for more than a day at a time or I am stuck at work for long hours and not able to come up with a good image.

I would rather people withhold posting instead of just posting "something" just so they can say they haven't missed any days.

The most enjoyable part of the PaD is seeing life through others cameras. Remember, this is fun stuff. If your not having fun you are doing it wrong.

What works for me...

I'll post every day I physically can. Even if it is not a good shot. My reasoning is that this project is intended to keep my eye in the viewfinder. If it's 10 PM and I'm tired, who knows what I'll come up with. Could be cr*p, could be inspired.

Oh Ray, life is hectic, but I'm surviving (I think :P ). And I agree with the therapy, I have never received so much support as I have with PAD members. It really is touching. I think that's why I want to continue on with my attempts of taking a photo a day, the people here are just so nice.

Now I'm the one with all the sappiness :P

We in southern England had a real crap day yesterday weatherwise. There was no way I was likely to take a decent shot outside. But at around 5.30 I grabbed a shot in the wet on a car forecourt. Even when I took it, I still envisaged a still life under the lights here at home.

But I was so pleased about the outcome of my car shot, it was the patterns that made it. There can be equally pleasing patterns in the workplace too, so my practice is to shoot a photo every day, even if it seems below par. In my experience, you may be forced to shoot something quite boringly but transform it in Photoshop in a number of ways.

I once photographed my eye for a PAD because I was desperate - I then did a special filter effect in PS.

And your daily ritual has been satisfied.

I just thought I'd add to this thread so it's no longer on page 12!

And also by doing so, I am now one of the original Padders! SWEET!

I used to be a good Padder, then I became an average Padder. Now I am just a bad Padder. To my credit, when I do post nowadays, I do comment on about 40-50 other Pads.

I agree with the original poster for the most part. Funny, when I tried to express such a notion, I go bashed for it. BUT, being in my second year of PAD, I know one can't take a photo every day because we all get busy or whatever, and yes, posting and older photo is fine.
