Hey Jude!
I thought the paper gave you Sundays off?

What amazes me is that people have to time in their lives to post crap like that.
Think of how small thier world must be Jeremy, and consider that revenge they inflict on themselves.

Can anyone help me understand these two comments left on my guestbook and galleries? I have sent them both emails to try and understand what brought this on ... it's a huge mystery to me. I feel empty inside when I see stuff like this. Did I really offend someone?>>>>

When I get a bad comment, I try to think if I'd maybe said something too judgmental in a comment elsewhere. For example, I noted one photographer - who had great work - had poorly feathered around the side of a building. I got one mean email about it, and then a bad anonymous comment on a pretty simple and innocuous photo. It's probably 99% NOT the same person, but it got me thinking. Golden rule, etc. LOL.

But in a search under your name in comments, I found you wrote this about a lovely "alphabet gallery" photo for "C is for Cigarette."

Other potential titles for this picture:
C=Cancer
C=Coughing
C=Classless
C=Clueless
C=Crass
C=Crude

Might someone have been offended by you?

I've only been on Pbase.com for a short time, but my experiences have been 99% fantastic. So, as someone else posted, if someone takes out their bad mood on you, it's probably okay to just let it roll of your back.

Best wishes,
WT

It's funny you should mention that. I came across that same comment of mine last week and actually posted a message in this very thread about it. But then I deleted it. Not sure why, I think I had just tired of the topic and I have a strong distaste for confrontation and negativity. It struck me that someone used the word "judgemental" in that picture's comments and then again in the nasty comment on my work. However, I think they truly were generalising, because outside of that comment, you'd be hard pressed to find any negative comments of mine. EXCEPT of course in places where Vinh has asked for critical feedback or on some photos of close photo friends who have made it known that they want constructive criticism where warranted.

My cigarette comment was mean spirited. I used to be an occasional smoker and was married to a couple full time smokers. I have seen far too often what can happen to a beautiful woman's face in her 40's when she's chain smoked for 20 years. Free radicals are a reality. I am not judgemental, but I consider smoking to be a singularly pointless habit.

How do you search for someone's comments?

Thanks for your input,
Jeremy

I think it's when a computer hacker gets into the city traffic computers and makes all the Don't Walk signs say Walk.

Yes see that was my question.. if you're going to be insulting.. at the very least you could make the insult make sense? That doesn't seem to be too much to ask in my opinion lol.

I personally think it's a hack whose bicycle has been stolen and who can't afford to take the bus.

why Hack walk/don't walk signs?

Post Sat Jul 16, 2005 9:35 pm

you people are not only smart and interesting but you are also pretty funny. why would someone hack the walk/don't walk signs. Oh I know, because opportunity arose. I've got too many kids to keep up with you guys but from experience owning a large email list I know there are many people who lie in wait to spew nasty comments when the opportunity arises. I always advise when asked to not give these people that attention they so desperately want out from your hurt or anger. The world is full of mean-spirited persons, rise above them and let em sink in their own muck.

I am really enjoying pad. please forgive my periodic babbling.
Kathie
