It's an old saying but I believe it's true: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The way I see it the choice to view or not to view should be left up to the viewer. This is how it's done on TV, movies, conscientious web sites, news stands, you get the idea. A set of simple rules to classify content could be drawn up and galleries would then carry a classification. Only the most widely accepted content would appear without some type of warning or filtering. A user's profile could specify what type of content could be viewed 'unfiltered'. (Some web browsers do this.) It would still be left up to us users to make this type of system work by conscientiously policing ourselves and classifying our work according to the rules. If done right this type of system makes no judgments as to the rightness or wrongness of the content. It does make allowances for peoples desire to not see certain types of content. This would not be an easy thing to do and poor old Slug I'm sure would receive a lot of criticism from all sides, but I think it would give the site a wider audience and acceptance in the long run.
