Whats your PAD - Daily shots, Best of or both?

Post Thu Jan 06, 2005 4:32 am

Since it's not uncommon for me to go a week or two easy without touching the camera (a fact I'm not happy about), my first PAD that I started on 1/1 is a project to get me motivated to get up and shoot something, even if only for the pad. :)

pad

Post Thu Jan 06, 2005 11:07 am

Like Laryl, I wouldn't usually soot every day, so in part it's a discipline to spend less time on pp or forums and more time actually snapping. My pad for Tuesday was literally the only image I took all day!

Where I've taken a fair few shots, I'll post the best on the gallery.

When I was doing Photo-A-Day, I couldn't shoot each and every day
unless I was sometimes just going to put up some hastily made
snapshot. And for me, that would have defeated the learning and
growing purpose. Besides which, after years of shooting, I just
know that at least for myself, I'm just not creative each and
every day.

I do, however, find that my creativity goes in spirts -- that I might
have a few days of not even picking up my camera, and yet one
day or another where I just seemingly go hog wild with my shooting.
And so that would usually tie me over for my next few days of
posting a Photo-A-Day image (and hopefully present to others
something more than just a hastily made snapshot which I made
with little or no caring at all).

But each of us is different. For me, Photo-A-Day wasn't so much
about picking up my camera each day... I don't need a year long
project to know I can do that... but rather to take some time each
week or every few days to push myself a bit, to try new things
with the image making, to do a bit of learning, to do a bit of
growing, and to maintain my sense of fun and passion for
this medium we use.

I am in the same boat right now, i cannot post a photo every day as much as i like too, even checking the Meta gallery is hard. Luckily things are getting easier for me soon so i should not miss a day.

PAD for me

Post Sat Jan 08, 2005 2:30 am

I shoot a shot a day. May not be the best but I take the time to look around me with an open mind and eye. I may not be able to post the shot I took on the day I shot it for many reasons. One being I may be out of town away from my computer to do so, but every shot I use for my PAD is shot on the day that is stated. That is my definition of "photo-a-day"

Ummm, "photo a day"

Well, I like to shoot each day. I have only been doing PAD for a few months. I try to do something every day, and post it that day. I have found it to be very rewarding. My rule (that I have only broken twice so far) is about a 48 hour window. I also have 4 kitties, so I almost always have a willing subject. Even when I was sick in bed, I was taking things like pictures of outlet covers and such, just to keep up. I love doing it, and have no intention of stopping after a year (I have no idea where that thought came from)

I also welcome all the new PADers. There seem to be quite a few of them now that the new year is here.

Sickbed Shootout

dhenry, you have me laughing so hard, and with a lot of admiration mixed in! That is such a hilarious and heroic image of you shooting from your sick bed getting every fixture that will pose for you. -Muriah

Daily Shots

Post Wed Jan 12, 2005 12:36 am

My goal is to shoot a new photo every day and have been doing it for about five weeks. This forces me to look for new material or create new ideas. It also serves as kind of digital diary, capturing in many cases what I was up to, where I was, or what I was thinking.

Some of the pictures I post are very weak. Some days I am just at my creative best. But, taking a picture every day is good habit for me and I intend to keep at it.

I aim to take a picture every day, mostly I have managed this, but there have been occaisions that this has not been possible, when this is the case I post a picture as close as possible (or relevant) and point out this has happened.

As far as posting the pictures goes I can sometimes go a fair few days before I get enough time to post the images but I usually manage to catch up eventually,

it can be very, very difficult at times, but I enjoy the challenge of it,
