It appears his e-mail address is ukrus@livejournal.com

This sort of thing seems a way of life but you should have every right to remove them.

He/She probably knows enough English for your purpose as it appears to be a site based on the English language, even thoust most of the content is Russian or similar.

This is not the first time this has happened with sites like these. If you check the Q&A forum there have been other instances (Don't know why this particular subject is on the PaD Forum this time). I have seen my images on at least four other sites, but did not do anything about it as they were all posted through direct linking. I turned off direct linking for a while to stop it. There is a way to trace your own images if they are posted, (Check the Q&A Forum) but that's really tedious because you have to do it one image at a time and have to know the URL of your PBase image they're using. The problem with this particular "Live Journal" site is that they assigned their own URL's, so I don't know how to find my own images on this site even if I wanted to and could speak Russian. For example one of my images has this URL:

http://s53.radikal.ru/i139/0905/54/ea86352ad201.jpg

They did put a "© Walter O. Koenig" which was mighty big of them. LOL.

I post maximum 700 pixels per side and recompress the images so there won't be much quality if people print them out. I suppose they could use the images on web sites or blogs, but that's life. I really don't worry about it too much. I figure if you put it on PBase, it's there for the taking. I did try to email them at the address Ray provided and got this message:
"Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out."
If anyone has got any ideas post them. Meanwhile I'll continue taking more pictures.

you post pictures on the net...this is to get visibility... if someone posts a picture by crediting the photographer, there is nothing wrong in my eyes. This is a tribute to great photographers, so why do you get so nervous about that?
There is no protection on the net! Just do not post pictures, you do not want to appear elsewhere without your control...
I have been published on quite a few blogs by people I do not know... I was proud!I wouldn't admit someone selling my photographs to a third party, but publishing on the net is NOT a problem for me... Therefor I never publish high resolution pics...

cheers

My personal feeling is that I don't like my pics being published without my permission.

I do feel better about it when a link is provided to my pics on my site, which is not the case here.

So yes, Barbara, it's flattering when my pics are considered worthy of being presented. And no, I don't want it done without asking me first. I like to know and approve of where they are being presented.

We are all entitled to how we feel about this, aren't we?

I agree with you Sandi, I'd like to be asked first too, it's the polite thing to do and one wants to know how one's images are being used and who's using them. That would be great in a perfect world, but the internet is far from perfect and provides perfect anonymity for those wanting to take images. Like I wrote earlier, if you put it on PBase, it's there for the taking.

Me too I prefer to be asked... but it is a matter of fact, that much more people make screen shots of your pictures. I have disabled right click on my pictures, but this doesn't prevent much... so I try to cope with a certain reality on internet! This is just a result of an evolution... I repeat, pictures you do not want to be stolen, you should not publish them on internet, for there are always people who would not ask you for permission.
That's the way it is... I don't say that I approve this... I just think it is helpless to fight against windmills...
