PAD Ending?

Sorry couldn't think of a better subject title.

Has anyone else noticed that the PAD Meta Gallery comes to an end after 27 clicks of the "next" button (well 27 clicks as of 7:20pm EST) it used to go on and on now it just shows the last 24 hours?

That isn't right!

Everyone needs to message Slug and Emily to get it back to the way it was.

It appears that the PAD Meta Gallery is only holding the last 24 hours of PAD uploads then they just drop off.

So if you post a PAD at 8pm tonight and then tomorrow at 9pm todays photo will no longer be viewable in the Meta Gallery before your new image goes up.

Everyone needs to contact Pbase and ask them to change this back to the old way your image stay up till you post a new addition to the Meta Gallery then your last post drops off.

In the days when I did look at the PAD meta-gallery, I don't think I ever had the strength to go through all 27 pages!

I have a list of favourite photographers which also include people that do not do PAD.

.... seems like the PHOTO A DAY issue has found a resolution.....

Not really fixed, no real answers yet from Pbase as to why it's Meta Gallery function has changed without updating member to it's new function. Information and communication is always good ya know.

Currently it is only showing PADs in the Meta Gallery from 03-Jan 04:25 (oldest photo show 28 clicks of the next button) to right now, 03-Jan 21:45 (the most recent photo)

So if you uploaded a PAD longer than 17 hours ago then unless folks have mared you as a favorite they wont see it.

This has really reduced the ability to form "community" among the PAD users. So in my opinion it is not fixed.

Yes I agree you can add folks to your favorites but most folks post there PAD the same time every day, some in the morning and some in the night.

So if that dosen't sync with when you get to look at folks PADs in the Meta Gallery you are missing there last PADs and will never come across their photos just missing out on the full PAD community.

is the long time complaint from SOME Photo-A-Day(ers) that there were PADers who were posting more than one photo a day; if, indeed, there's a time limit to the meta gallery then the issue has been resolved.....

Yeah.... The problem that it does not contain last 24 hours. When I tried it it had from 15:16 till 21:25 previous day. And ended up after 32 pages.

I would not have a problem that it keeps exactly 24 hours from any new upload back.
Then everyone will have a chance to show the last PAD images for the same amount of time.
But now it looks it's limited to number of images or space or something else.
That means images posted during the hours of massive uploads will be shown less time, that images uploaded off prime ( ) time.

Perhaps the length of the gallery had to be limited since many posts are a post a day, rather than a photo a day. I say that since I have noticed that many of the photos in the gallery are months or even years old. I thought they were supposed to have been taken the day they were posted.

Well, the original idea was to take a photo each day and post it. I don't think anyone was ever angry because it could not be posted until say the next day!

It's all about the spirit of PAD.

And does it really matter how long the meta gallery is? I'd be inclined to spend less time on PAD issues and see what other really good photographs are featured on the site as a whole.

Seems that if the "resolution" aimed at getting to the people who post more than one PAD image, it is counterproductive. The ones who wish to have there images visible for the entire day must now post them at least twice if I am reading the comments correctly. I would like to hear the issue as the admins see it.

As of today (Noon time EDT USA) the gallery is only going back 12 hours.

Personally I would rather create a 'Favorites' or 'PaD WatchList' to monitor from within my own site than to scroll thru a meta gallery that may (will) have a lot of photographers I'm not interested in. From time to time I'll still go thru the meta to look for new people or to add someone if I find I'm repeatedly attracted to their stuff. But a vetted list works better for me in the end and saves a lot of time. With soooo many photos to look at after a while even a few seconds here and there makes a difference.
