Using the channel mixer - Challenge

Post Wed May 16, 2007 12:04 am

Hi
In the absence of any recently taken shots I've been playing with B&W conversions on existing images.
Here is a selection of B&W channel mixer conversions from Nepal – hope you like ‘em!
I think some fo them work well, others not so well.

Show me your channel mixing work - I am interested to see your results! I have tended so far to using mainly the red and green channels (blue seems to carry more noise in most of my shots), and I'd be interested to hear your experiences of this method of B&W conversion.

Does no one else use the channel mixer and want to share their experiences / shots?

Oh well, here's my last one then.

I use it quite subtly. I always use Channel Mixer to convert to greyscale, as it gives so much more control (1st image), but I also use it sometimes in colour images (2nd image). I duplicate the colour image, apply channel mixer with lots of contrast, and then overlay it at around 20-50%. This makes colours more filmic, accentuates blacks and increases contrast.
