For the people who have issues with adult content
being viewed by children you can copy this code and put it in
your header.
Its very small, in the code where it says class-"8point" you can
lower that number to make it even smaller.
After you put the code in your header, you also have to register
with the sites so they block you

I am going to make my gallerys with any nudity password
protected and realize that regardless my accout will probably
be deleted.
You accomplished your goal Gary. Where the voice of one can dictate
what others see. You should be proud of this.
I would love to have a cup of coffee with you in person and discuss it.

Code: Select all
<span style="font-size:78%;color:#CCCCCC;">Registered with:</span><a class="8point" href="http://www.icra.org/" target="_blank"><span style="font-size:78%;color:#ffffff;"> ICRA</span></a><span style="font-size:78%;color:#ffffff;"> ~ </span><a href="http://www.safesurf.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-size:78%;color:#ffffff;">SafeSurf</span></a><span style="font-size:78%;color:#ffffff;"> ~ </span><a class="8point" href="http://www.cybersitter.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-size:78%;color:#ffffff;">Cybersitter</span></a><span style="font-size:78%;color:#ffffff;"> ~ </span><a class="8point" href="http://www.safe-site.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-size:78%;color:#ffffff;">SafeSite</span></a><span style="font-size:78%;color:#ffffff;"> ~ </span><a class="8point" href="http://www.netnanny.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-size:78%;color:#ffffff;">NetNanny</span></a><span style="font-size:78%;color:#ffffff;"> ~ </span><a class="8point" href="http://www.cyberpatrol.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-size:78%;color:#ffffff;">CyberPatrol</span></a><span style="font-size:78%;color:#ffffff;"> ~ </span><a class="8point" href="http://www1.surfwatch.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-size:78%;color:#ffffff;">SurfWatch</span></a><span style="font-size:78%;color:#ffffff;"> ~ </span><a class="8point" href="http://www.websense.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-size:78%;color:#ffffff;">Websense</span></a>

Will this completely block the user from viewing adult content or just galleries with this in the header? The only place(s) many are concerned about are the public viewing areas such as the PAD Meta Gallery.

This is a very responsible act on your part, but I'm not sure it is necessary. Individuals not wanting to view such images have no reason to be in your galleries. If they are viewing them then, it's because they sought them out and not because you posted them in a public area.

It's not really a voice of one. There are actually quite a few individuals that have a problem with certain images being posted in areas such as the PAD Meta Galleries. How do I know this? Because we corresponde all of the time. Personally I think it would be great if the Administrators of PBase would devise some sort of Adult oriented PAD Meta Gallery.

Actually that would be great! I'm not the best person when it comes to trying to get a point across on forum boards.

http://www.icra.org
http://www.safesurf.com
http://www.cybersitter.com
http://www.safe-site.com
http://www.netnanny.com
http://www.cyberpatrol.com
http://www1.surfwatch.com
http://www.websense.com
I cant show you the look because i dont want to convert all that into bbcode
But realisticly you dont need the code in your site, you just have to
register your site with them, its that easy.
Remember by doing so, you are cutting about 50,000,000 potental
viewers from your work.

Those are the actual sites, if you have children you should
have one.
Run any of those
software programs, (I think safesite might be dead)
And you register your site, they will block you.
As far as individual galleries it should, because the way
those programs work, they read the beginning of the url string
so for example "http://www.pbase.com/jttaint"
is my root, and http://www.pbase.com/jttaint/new_taint_material is a sub.
The filter program reads the beginning "http://www.pbase.com/jttaint"
and blocks without even having to go to the sub.

Now if you have another site, where in my case it would be "http://ilovetaints.com" my subdomain "http://pictures.ilovetaints.com"
would have to be registered separately.
"http://pictures.ilovetaints.com" <---- that site does not exist

Now before anyone starts screaming censorship, supposedly, each
site is reviewed before being added to any of these so that
someone cannot randomly put in something like pbase.com as
a restricted site.

The real answer lies with Em and Slug because they are the ones
in control of this site.
You CAN make adult access only to parts of the site.
Their web knowledge FAR surpasses mine, and I can do it.

As far as the PDA Meta Gallery
I have no solution, it is not a feature I use here.

Wow! Going back and reading comments I'm not sure how I didn't read Ray's post a little more careful.

As a part of his message he said that Sharon made the following statement:

What she said was that, while she doesn't care if they see it, she wants them to have a choice as to which of our galleries they prefer.

That's all everyone wants when it comes to the public areas of PBase... "CHOICE"...

I know there is the argument that in order for some to have a choice to not be subjected to certain images, others have to give up the right to post certain photos. I guess it does come down to the Administration coming up with "sections" of PBase pretty much like Ray and Sharon did for family members.
