This morning for the first time I saw evidence of the earliest start of the 2008 rut. This is a spectacular time to be NW Arkansas, everything happens at once, fall color, mild weather, and it is superb for elk watching. Last you around the first week in October I took pictures of a herd with satellite bulls that started attacking the alpha bull. Ultimately there were 3 bull fights in front of me at once. Roughly a 150 elk, and 15 bulls. It was spectacular.
I really want other photographers to know about and visit NW Arkansas. This one photo destination that is nearby, and offers an unexpected range of photo opportunities. Rock, water, fall color, rocky bluffs, vistas, waterfalls, wild flowers, etc.. It is all here. There are great places to camp right in the middle of the action. Cheap cabins if you want to go that way.
