Puffins + Maine

Has anyone taken the boat trips off the coast of Maine to photograph the atlantic puffins? I would like to take a trip their to photgraph. Any recommendations as to when & where, or which trip (boat) is best.

Norm, about the 10th to the 12th of July in 2004, my wife and i did the puffin trip out of Bar Harbor. this is the boat that we took http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/1168 ... 5112frVorw
we used the Bar Harbor Whale Watch company... We were very impressed with them and it was well worth the money for the trip! here is a a link to some of the images that I shot that day. http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/168918799wKfCaF The day that we went, we only had a 10 inch seas 30 mile out! It was almost like glass... Just be sure to pick a day by listening to the weather forcast that is to calm to only a gentle breeze and no fog in the morning! Take your longest vr/is lenses (at least 450 mm) and go for it! they also had a couple of other afternoon trips for seals/nature/sightseeing, and I would highly recomend these as well. When we return to Acaidia NP we will do this again!
