It owes that to its history, but still. What that means for a tourist is that you are allowed into every mosque, even the most functional of ones. This was a quite a cultural experience for us.
Istanbul is also unique since the clash of Europe and Asia is so clear. We got to do a lot of things squeezed into 5 days, and we tried to not only see as much as we can but also eat as much as we could. Ottoman cuisine is tasty. And the sweets!!! yummy!
