The Northern Areas of Pakistan is paradise for mountaineers, and adventure and nature lovers. Cluster of snow-clad peaks rise from the blanket of mist in the valleys. Unparalleled in its serenely transparent beauty, unmatched in its excitingly exotic grandeur ‘Pakistan’s physical and cultural diversity span blessed with the three great, lofty and spectacular mountain ranges of the world, the Karakoram, the Himalayas and the Hindukush. In an area of 500 kilometers in width and 350 kilometers in depth which holds five (5) of the world’s fourteen highest mountains, those over 8000 meters and more than one hundred higher than 7000 meters. There are more than 500 peaks over 6000 meters and most of these peaks are untouched and unclimbed and unnamed with an average height of 6550 meters. And there are countless peaks from 3000 meters to 6000, which are mostly unclimbed and unnamed. Pakistan has honor to hold five (5) peaks over 8000 meters. The world’s second highest peak rock pyramid the K-2 (8611 m), the Killer mountain Nanga Parbat (8125 m), the Gasherbrum-I (8068 m), the Broad peak (8047 m) and the Gasherbrum-II (8035 m).

These mountain ranges of Pakistan offering great opportunities for mountaineering and mountain related adventure activities. The area is known as paradise for mountaineers, adventure and nature lovers. The compelling charm of these challenging high, eternal sea of rugged and pinnacles attract large number of climbers, adventure and nature lovers from all over the world to the Northern Areas of Pakistan each year. These high peaks of Pakistan have since been climbed by a large number of foreign and Pakistani mountaineers, yet there are number of other high peaks waiting for those who have the courage to challenge them.
