What lenses resolution?

I'm going to buy the canon 10d or (300d) DR SLR camera, and i'm going to use the old contax lenses on that (i have some special adapter)
Some day I've heard something about lens resolution.
Is it true that the digital slr camera need some better lens resolution? Is it true? and WHAT RESOLUTION IS OK, WHAT IS PROPER WHAT IS GREAT AND WHAT IS NOT ENOUGH..for 28, 50, 135, 200 lenses ?

I know what resolution are my lenses , but i dont wknow what resolution should have the lenses mounted to digital slr canon.

can you halp me with this info?
is it ok to mount a good qulity contax lenses for such a digital camera???
is it proper resolution? what res should be?

I can't answer your question, but can perhaps point you in the right direction. There are three sites that I know of that have a "high knowledge base" when it comes to the 10D and 300D, I'd visit these sites and see what you find. (People appreciate it if you search first, ask second.)

since the sensor on both the 10D and the 300D is not full frame (the sensor size is smaller than a 35mm frame, when it comes to lenses, the critical area is the center of the lens element(s). You can get high quality pictures even if the lenses does not have perfect performance at the edges, so long as the center is tack sharp.

Here are my two cents: How good are your Contax lenses? If they are tack sharp and of good quality, that's fine. But if you are going to invest in a fairly expensive dSLR, I would strongly recommend that you look at Canon (or even good Sigma) lenses. You can get reasonably inexpensive lenses (such as the Canon EF28-105 or the 50 f/1. which are made specifically for your camera without breaking the bank. If you put poor quality glass on a good camera, you will get poor images - plain and simple.
