Picking a lens

Post Mon Jul 12, 2004 4:25 am

Hi,

I am considering purchasing a new telephoto lens. Here are my choices:

Canon 70-200mm f/4
http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/contro ... delid=7345

Tokina 80-200mm f/2.8
http://www.thkphoto.com/products/tokina/afl-05.html

Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8
http://www.sigmaphoto.com/html/zoom_intro.htm

Can any of you fellow photographers help me decide?

Thanks,

Hugh

As much as the Canon lens is a nice piece of glass, I think the flexibility of having a f/2.8 outweighs buying Canon... I have the Sigma 70-200... and with the 300D it's essentially a 112-320mm f/2.8. Whack the 2x APO extender on that and what you got is 640mm f/5.6, which is some sick stick for not a lot of cash.
