I am having a problem with very small spots on photos but only when it is a single colour like a blue sky. I have tried cleaning my lens over and over again. The other thing is they don't appear in exactly the same point or when there is colour contrast. Anyone got some advise this is a new camera only 4 months old.

Post an example of a photo with the spots you refer to and be sure to include the EXIF info.

I am actually quite disappointed with the amount of dust getting into my D7000.......It is about 6 months old, I had a major cleaning done about a month ago and more dust spots are already evident......I am hoping that this is simply leftover dust that may not have been totally removed in the major cleaning. I have had several other Nikons and never experienced this problem. For a camera that is supposed to be weather sealed, it is coming up short in my opinion.

just a thought, but as well sealed as the camera body is, some of the consumer grade zooms are very poorly sealed and just pump dust into the camera when one zooms in and out.

Also if one shoots a lot of video with these the sensor is exposed for extended periods of time, unlike when shooting stills. As long as the mirror is up the sensor is exposed to dust. One of the reasons I think DSLR is a poor platform for video.

Very good points Chris. A good source for dust is also changing lenses in the wrong environment, taking an inordinate amount of time do it and pointing the camera up while changing lenses. I'm not insinuating the previous posters don't know how to change lenses, but I've seen a lot of photographers do what I just described.

Sounds a lot like dust spots except you say they appear in differing places. Could it possibly be hot pixels? Are they dark or bright spots, the later being hot pixels. Nikon has a firmware update that addresses hot pixels for that camera.

MY D7000 went for cleaning twice....I was informed that there is a batch of D7000 that are throwing oil from the shutter mechanism on to the sensor. Apparently, Nikon knows about the problem......I was offered my 3rd D7000 in less than 6 months, turned it down, took the cash and went with the Canon 7D. Both cameras have their pluses and minuses but at least I am no longer getting spots. For a while there, with the D7000, it was really not a lot of fun, since you knew that spots would appear.
