Problem with 580EX II
Posted: Sat Jan 09, 2010 3:47 pmJust wanted to let others know that the Canon 580EX II flash will only reliably work with a camera with the new metallic hot shoe flash mount (the hot shoe on the camera must be all silver - not painted black).
My wife bought me a new flash for Christmas but it will only work by pulling back on the flash head. According to the retailer there is not a lot on info on the web about this problem (although they knew of this problem), so I thought I'd let people know. The manual does not state that the 580EX II is only for the newly designed hot shoe and states that it will work with all EOS cameras - not true.
