I am considering trading my 18-105mm Nikkor in for a Sigma-18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 DC. Has anyone used the Sigma lens and have any advice or better lenses I could get for the same amount?

The Sigma 18-200 is a very good lense, it was all I used during my Sedona AZ vacation in sept. 2009, hope you'll like it. It gets better revies than other 18-200s.

There will be no quality gain stick to nikkor the best u can get for Nikon.
And even the 18-200 VR is a compromise.

U better invest in a 16-85 vr with a 70-300 VR.
I,m not rich either and took me 4 years to get the 17-55 with a 300MM af-s.
save ur money for the right stuff.

A good medium class glass is still the 18-70 nikkor. the 55-200VR comes out good as well.
At 200 mm that sigma is 6,3 that awesome bad.
Nikon doesnt even guarantees focus at that F stop. It does but can give problems.

Research many forums and photo magazines and you will see that the Sigma 18-200 is rated superior to the Nikon, I did not know this when I bought mine but I like the idea! LOL
