Tamron 17-50 VC vs Non-VC

Hi, I am thinking of getting a Tamron 17-50 for my D90 but not sure whether to get the newer version with VC. I have seen some reviews that are contradicting. Some suggest the VC version performs better while others disagree. Like to hear some hands-on experience of you guys on the VC version. In my country, the VC version is about US$100 more than the non-VC version. So, it's quite affordable. Thank you in advance for sharing your experience.
