Which lens for simple photographs of pets

Post Tue Feb 17, 2009 9:39 pm

Hi, I own a small animal vet clinic. We want to photograph our pet patients. Please can someone suggest a good lens for this? I have a Digital Rebel XT and want something with an EF (or EF/S) mount.

Budget is under $100. Would a kit lens be ok...?

Quality doesn't have to be amazing, I know it won't be at this price! But the lighting will likely be very non-ideal and the camera will be automatic - we just want something better than standard point-and-shoot.

thanks,

Richard

Check the Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II. It's less than $100. (US), and offers nice speed for lower light and nice sharpness for a lens of it's price. It's build is plastic, but it does the job.

I second that! You will love that little, cheap, fast lens. It will shine in many low light situations with a digital Rebel. :D
