Canon 1Ds mark III

Post Thu Mar 06, 2008 6:49 am

Any one of you guys would have tried this new camera ?

I'm changing my gear and selling my 1Ds Mark I for a Mark III, i'd like to have so review before as the investment is substantial.

Cheers,

I've only had my camera for a few weeks and have only taken a few test shots to see how it works. IMO this camera is fantastic!

Thanks for the pics, unfortunatelly I cannot say they demonstrate the full capacity of the animal...the beast...and I'm not talking about the cat.
Any comment about the camera ? anything you didn't like ? anything especially good ?
Cheers

Canon 1Ds3

Well I can say that it outperforms my D2x by quite a lot and my friend's 1Ds2 by a bit. The color, sharpness & dynamic range are most noticeable especially with lighter subjects like metals and whites. I like all the features that I've played with. I guess if I list them in order of my favorite things it would be resolution, lens microajustment and ability to set LCD review to 100% zoom with one touch to check focus. I like the live view and computer camera control but I'm not sure how much I would use them. Coming from a Nikon the 1Ds3 feels a little odd but I am getting use to it quickly. I wish it had a multiple exposure feature. I was most unhappy with the resolution and focus reliability with my old camera. The 1Ds3 has resolved those issues for me!

If you like the Mark III, then have a look at this, for a bit of fun:

Ah yeah - you're right its a 1dmkIII, (not 1ds)
Sorry about that. It is an amusing clip, however ...

Never, they have very different purposes. 5fps v. 11fps (I think) says it all.
Nikon D300, D200
