Date automatically resets after switching on the camera

Hi guys,

I have a problem with my Canon A560 camera

If I set the date and turn the camera off, when I turn the camera back on the date is reset to 00/00/06 (mm/dd/yy)
I tried formatting and that didn't work.
I set date stamp = OFF and it still puts in the time noted above in the pictures.

The camera has a small CR1220 lithium battery near the the 2 AA batteries to maintain the clock when the power is off. Have you tried replacing this?

oh i dint replace that. Bought the cam just a couple of weeks back. How can the battery die in such a short time?

It's possible the battery is weak or old, I suggest you replace it and see if the issue is resolved.
