New camera time

I currently have the olympus camedia C700 2.1 mega pixel. Its got a 10x zoom, which i love, it works with AA batteries and the smartmedia card, which is cheap and easy to find at a walmart when i forget it at home.
Well i think its time to move up to more megapixels...like 5 or more. I would like to keep the AA idea, cuz they are rechargeable, i have a lot of them and they work with my MP3 player, that is a recharger as well. I would also like a decent zoom. I have about 5 or 600 to spend in american dollars.
I thought i should jump up to more megapixels so i could take a better landscape picture, which i tend to take a lot of.

Any recomendations??? I saw the canon A80 i liked that one...any others??

Take a look at the Fuji S7000... It has a 6x zoom, 6MP and uses AA batteries. It fits into the high end of your price range.

What do you mean (takes longer to expose the more pixels you have)? Is this why it takes sooo long to get pictures back from the mars rovers? Because they are using mega mega pixel cameras?

Sorry mate I could not resist... Fuji 7000 sounds like a really nice camera I was looking at it myself awhile ago. My old 6900z allways gave a great performance with outstanding colours.

Just a tought. If you like the Oly that you have, there are used E-10's around that are in your price range (or less). For that kind of money, the E-10 is a steal.
