Will My Lens Work?

Post Wed Mar 24, 2004 3:22 am

I have a Sigma Aspherical IF lens(28-105mm) on my Canon Rebel(film) and I'm wondering if it will work on the Digital Rebel? If you know, please share. Thanks!

Hi,

Yes it should work. As long as it is designed for a Canon EOS, I can fit on all Canon EOS brand SLRs wether film or digital.

Might actually work better

Most lenses are weakest in the corners and sides....areas cropped out by the DR's 1.6-factor CMOS sensor. It won't seem so wide (a 28mm has the field of view of 44mm in full frame equivalent) but you'll most likely be pleased with the quality.

Some older Sigma lenses don't work with Canon dSLR's. They can usually be rechipped by Sigma, often for free, to make them compatible.
