digital rebel xti... need help

Post Sat Oct 13, 2007 11:00 pm

I have a rebel xti and after using it today i noticed a amount of dust and dirt that must have gotten into the mirror area of the body of the camera. I cleaned all my lenses first to see if they were the culpret. When looking through the viewfinder you can clearly see these small particles. I have tried my cloths and some Q tips that came in a cleaning kit but nothing seems to get rid of it. Please help

Are you sure the dust isn't in the viewfinder window itself?

Don't mess with it. You will screw up your AF or metering before you fix the dust.

The dust wont show on your images.

What are you talking about? It's a brush that blows a little air, it isn't going to screw anything up!

You have debris in your viewfinder assembly. If it is just on the focusing screen, you can easily blow it off with a simple blower. If it does not come off, it is deep on the other side of the focusing screen or prism area. If it is really annoying, you can send it to Canon for servicing. Viewfinder debris won't appear on the images, but they are indeed annoying.
